Check out the "recipes" tab for a new spin on deer burgers called "The Venison Bacon Burger". Give it a go and let me know what you think before summer is gone!

The Beginning
This blog is an attempt to catalog my experience's in the outdoors, if nothing, else for my son and maybe someday, for his son's. I started hunting since I was probably ten, with my family in Shattuck, OK. I was memorized by my initial experience. Camaraderie, excitement, the wonder of the natural world, and the majesty of watching wildlife in their own environment. For me, it has always been as much about the people I am surrounded by, along with the place, and quarry. Many memories have been catalog'd since those early days. I hope I never loose that sense of awe and wonder. I hope I never succumb the commercialization of the sport; that it's only for the "kill". I hope to explain in future post's my relationship with the outdoors and how I can make sense of the world through it.
We millennials are a different lot. It's seems the world has tried to figure us out, market to us, and convince us of all sorts of rubbish. But much like my own experience, I believe a reckoning is happening....That as we move into our 30's and 40's, we see that simple is better, striving to obtain our food through the means of a hunt is a noble endeavor, and that a great sense of joy can come from something so old, and non-entertainment oriented. I hope that my generation does change, truly to a generation wild.
On a different note....I have just ordered my second batch of Kuiu hunting clothing (the first batch six months ago didn't fit). And my next post I will give you a review on what my first impressions are. Most of the clothing is from the new KUIU Teton line, which is a little less expensive and probably more practical for most of the hunting I do currently(non-mountainous types). Anyways, tomorrow my order comes in, and I will try to post in the next couple days!
